KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) – Today is National Youth Day and in line with its theme “This Decade, Your Decade”, Malaysian youths are urged to continue driving the nation’s development in this ‘new normal’ era.

Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) deputy president Muhammad Fadzli Hasan said while the council has proposed that the main celebrations for this year’s National Youth Day be postponed to International Youth Day on Aug 12, a digital carnival targeted at youths aged between 15 and 40 will be held on May 16 and 17 to promote online marketing and shopping.

MYYouthfair is organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Malaysia Digital Economic Corporation and MYC via the Cashback digital platform that offers the services of various e-commerce merchants such as Lazada, Shopee and Zalora.

Muhammad Fadzli said the two-day carnival is aimed at enhancing the online shopping culture among youths and stimulating the domestic economy amid the current COVID-19 pandemic.

“To make youths feel special, they will receive RM10 to RM30 vouchers for transactions made on the Cashback platform during MYYouthFair,” he said, adding that RM1 from each transaction will be channeled to a COVID-19 aid fund.
