The Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) condemns India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the strongest of terms after its spokesperson, Nupur Sharma made highly offensive and Islamophobic remarks on national television regarding Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Such remarks are absolutely intolerable by any standards and hence, a full apology is expected from the party as a sign of respect for the Muslim minorities that exists within India as well as Muslims globally.
Similarly, this is not an isolated case of Islamophobia that happens in the country as anti – Muslim sentiments and attacks have risen since 2014 and hence, MYC pushes the Indian government to tackle the ever-increasing Islamophobia in India.
Any form of actions or comments that gives rise to the prejudice of any religious figures or symbols are will be rejected harshly by the MYC as it believes in the inclusivity of all race, ethnic and religions.
