Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) strongly upholds the freedom of speech so long that it does not infringe on the rights of others and imprisonment of these protestors are a clear violation of that right. Since the beginning of the military coup led by the Junta, Myanmar had been under military control over the past month and since then multiple protestors had been injured and killed.
The situation has escalated violently and a settlement must be reached immediately for the safety and wellbeing of the Myanmar citizens. Democracy must be upheld and the military is responsible for ensuring the safety of its citizens, not terrorize them. MYC supports for all efforts of attaining peace on the matter.
