Malaysia Youth Council (MBM) strongly condemns the coup instigated by the Myanmar military lead – Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
The people of Myanmar have voted; democracy must be respected and upheld for the rights of the people.
Though MBM consistently disagrees with what has been done by Suu Kyi towards the minority Rohingyas, we urge the detained State Counsellor of Myanmar and other democratically elected leaders to be released immediately.
Furthermore, safety and well-being of people are the upmost priority amidst of current pandemic and regrettably, this coup severely puts the people at risk.
May the people of Myanmar remain safe and secure in these turbulent times.
