The bilateral relationship between Malaysia and China has prospered since the Malaccan sultanate in the 16th century and it continues to flourish today spanning from economic to cultural partnerships that have greatly benefited the two nations including the recent cooperation that involved the procurement of the Sinovac vaccine. With the implementation of the Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ), an initiative to capitalize on the exponential growth of e-commerce, China further consolidates its position as the country’s largest trading partner, thus expanding business opportunities from both sides of the aisle.
China has assured it’s commitment in maintaining close relations with all ASEAN member states under its vision of shared prosperity resulting in multiple signed agreements of multilateral cooperation on technology transfer and economic partnerships. Malaysia alongside other ASEAN member states are strategically positioned for rapid economic growth post-pandemic.
