NATION’S YOUNG:The children of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim dan Miskin Klang had a fun-filled day and received the Jalur Gemilang, ‘duit raya’ and gifts
A ROUSING rendition of the national anthem and shouts of “Merdeka” marked the beginning of a fun-filled day for the children of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim dan Miskin Klang (Peyakin).
They were treated to lunch after being given duit raya, the national flag and gifts.
They were also entertained with dances, games and a clown show.
Organised by volunteers from the United Youth Movement of Malaysia (GBBM) and Country Garden Properties (M) Sdn Bhd with the support of Majlis Belia Malaysia, the objective of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Merdeka celebrations was to spread love and joy among the less fortunate.
GBBM president Low Eng Tack said it was important to pay attention to the younger generation, especially those in need.
“Children are a big part of society and they should not be neglected or sidelined. We should give them due attention, guide them and help them to build self-esteem so that they can grow up to become assets to the country,” he said.
He said the organisers were hoping that the event would encourage more people to help the less fortunate.
