50 Youths From Eight Asian Countries Savour Malaysian Food, Culture

PETALING JAYA, June 12 2012 (Bernama) — Fifty youths from eight Asian countries were today treated by the Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) in conjunction with the “Friendship Express 2012” exchange programme organised by the Singapore International Foundation.

At the function, participants comprising youths from Myanmar, China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand were introduced to the Malaysian culture through a dinner and a cultural performance by the Selangor Youth Cultural Troupe.

Also present was MYC president Mohamed Maliki Mohamed Rapiee, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk S.K Devamany and the Singapore Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia Ariel Tan.

All participants who arrived by train today from Singapore will take part in various activities until June 16.

Among them are group educational sharing programmes to help raise the standard of living of the communities in Kampung Nelayan Teluk Gong, Klang and Kampung Orang Asli Pantos in Kuala Lipis.

The participants will leave for Thailand for another set of activities before the programme comes to an end on June 22.
