KUALA LUMPUR 6 April – In conjunction with 10th United Nations Economic and Social Council Youth Forum; Commonwealth Youth Council took the opportunity of hosting a youth event highlighting on “Youth Participation and Engagement in Achieving 2030 Agenda & Youth 2030”.
The event was graced by Commonwealth Secretary-General; H.E. Patricia Scotland, United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, Bangladesh State Minister of Youth and Sports, Republic of Tatarstan Deputy Minister for Youth Affairs, Russia. Alongside them, International Organisations like Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS), United Nations Association of Canada, The Commonwealth participated by sharing their input to improve and support youth engagement.
Apart from that, Elected Representative of CYC Asia Region; Qasim Farasat together with Program Assistant and MBM EXCO, Ms. Kavita Maheendran – launched Asian Youth Union (AYU) officially. AYU is the first Youth-led initiative to unite Asian Regional Youth, that has been mandated by the Governments of the Asian Region. AYU aims to unite the 750 million voices from Asian Region, by ensuring that the youths have equal access to information and opportunities, and that they get heard for their rights and aspiration as one united-Asian-youth-force.
