PUTRAJAYA 7 Nov 2012: THE Malaysian Youth Council (MBM) is aiming to raise RM500,000 through its Golf for Charity programme that will be held on Nov 17.
Themed ‘Youth Love Peace’, the event will be held at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah golf club and the council has invited Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to participate.
Its president Mohamed Maliki Mohamed Rapiee said the programme was held for the first time and it was a smart partnership between the youth council and the private sector.
“This smart partnership move is aimed at raising funds to help implement various youth development programmes in the country without relying solely on the government.
“The objective of the programme is also aimed at raising the youth movement in Malaysia so that it will be on par with government agencies and corporations in the country,” he said in his speech before the soft launch of the programme recently.
Maliki also said that golf is the best medium to introduce, build and create network between youth and individuals in the corporate and professional sectors.
The charity golf programme is targeting to achieve a participation of 120 golfers from 30 flights. The minimum sponsorship participation fee is RM5,000 and a minimum RM100,000 for platinum sponsorship.
Maliki added that a car will be given to a hole-in-one winner.
“The plan is to give a car as the prize and we have received commitment from a company, however, this is still in the planning stage,” he said.
Present at the soft launch was Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
Ahmad Shabery regarded it as a positive event that would help fund youth development programmes in the country, aside from donating to various youth welfare funds.
