MAJLIS BELIA MALAYSIA

MYC wholly supports the Japanese Government’s initiative in sharing its disaster management expertise

Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) is in full support on the Japanese government’s initiative through a media statement by the Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia H.E Mr. Takahashi Katsuhiko recently in sharing their expertise and experience in disaster management in an effort to reduce such disasters from worsening impacted Malaysians and to the global citizens in general.

This initiative will greatly strengthen diplomatic relationships between both nations since the inception of the Look East Policy in addition to resolving existing weaknesses within the country’s severely criticized disaster management recently.

MYC wholeheartedly welcomes such thoughtful gestures seeing as to how MYC also benefits greatly from the experience and expertise of the Japanese government in handling crisis.

Through the 1Malaysia Youth Volunteer Community (MyVOC), MYC had already carried out a MyVOC Disaster Management Program held on the 27th – 31st October of 2017 in Tokyo, Japan in which MYC had the pleasure in learning from a few selected Japanese disaster management organizations regarding steps to achieve readiness in facing crisis and techniques in handling disaster victims as well as disaster management using current available resources.

Therefore, MYC is confident that the Malaysian government specifically the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) would include NGOs in the Japanese governments offer to learn and benefit from their experience and expertise in efficient disaster management.

MYC is certain that this beneficial cooperation will continue to strengthen the Malaysian-Japanese bilateral relationship as Japan has already established a positive image through other area of cooperation be it education, trade, technical skills and prestigious youth exchange programs such as the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP).

The Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP).
