KUALA LUMPUR 13th March – The Youth Taskforce on Foreign Affairs and Diplomacy is a follow up to the Roundtable Discussion for Youth Groups on Malaysia Baharu’s Foreign Policy Framework with Foreign Minister on 14th February 2019. At the previous Roundtable Discussion, the Foreign Minister mandated the youth groups, with the coordination of International Relations and SDG Committee of the Malaysian Youth Council or Majlis Belia Malaysia (MBM) to discuss on the way forward of Malaysian youth organisations related to diplomacy and international affairs.
On the 12th March 2019, more than 30 members of different organizations kicked off a meeting at the Treaty Room, Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) , Jalan Wisma Putra, Kuala Lumpur to form a group to coordinate deliberation and discussion on programs and issues related to foreign affairs and diplomacy.
Among the outputs of the meeting were identifying and affirming commitments of the stakeholders to work hand in hand on related matters, the framework of the taskforce and grouping different focus group and area of issues related to foreign policies. The outcome of the discussions of this taskforce or youth consultancy groups in the future will be channeled directly to the Foreign Minister , Youth Minister and Education Minister. Apart from that this Taskforce also aims to play a part in the Malaysian Youth Consultancy Council (MPBN) and Foreign Ministry Concultative Council chaired by the Ministers of the respective Ministries.
