Strategic Plans Meeting Between SEARCCT, NGOs and Higher Education Institutions

KUALA LUMPUR 8 Nov – The Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) was invited to attend a meeting hosted by SEARCCT to gather input regarding its soon-to-be-deployed capacity building programs as well as discuss other areas of cooperation with relevant agencies for the year 2022. The meeting revolved around several agendas such as investigation and legal aspects, protection of critical infrastructure, prevention of terrorism financing and PCVE.

In attendance were other notable stakeholders in counter-terrorism including representatives from local higher institutions to NGOs. The aforementioned capacity building programs covers all if not most demographics susceptible to radicalization especially youths hence, the involvement of higher education institutions as an ideal medium to execute PCVE programs (Preventing & Countering Violent Extremism).

The meeting generally outlined its focus for 2022 with 18 Capacity Building Programs planned prioritizing cancelled ones from 2020 and 2021. MYC is fully committed in efforts to curb as well as fully eradicate violent extremism among youths.

MBM is represented by Idzham Haqim bin Mat Rasid, Secretary of International Affairs & SDG Bureau Malaysian Youth Council.
