The Malaysian Youth Council is deeply shocked and saddened by the news of the devastating earthquake that has struck Turkiye and Syria, affecting numerous communities and leaving a trail of destruction. According to the latest reports, the earthquake has claimed over 2,000 lives and injured thousand more, while causing widespread damage to homes, buildings and infrastructure.
We stand together with the people of Turkiye and Syria during this difficult time and offer our support and condolences. Our thoughts and prayers are with those impacted by this tragedy, including the families and loved ones of the victims and the injured.
The Malaysian Youth Council commends the efforts by the Malaysian government to send 75-member Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) to assist in the effort to search and rescue (SAR) the victims of the earthquake in Turkiye.
We hope that the affected communities are able to recover from this devastating loss and that the necessary aid and support reaches those in need immediately.
