MAJLIS BELIA MALAYSIA

Malaysian Youth Council stands in solidarity for peace in the Middle East

The Malaysian Youth Council (MBM) expresses deep concern over the intensifying tensions in the Middle East, particularly the escalating confrontation between Israel and Iran, which poses grave risks to regional stability and global peace.

The recent Israeli military strikes on multiple Iranian targets including strikes targeting Iranian interests and infrastructure and also three nuclear facilities mark a dangerous escalation with potentially catastrophic consequences. These attacks threaten not only the security of Iran but also the wider region, raising the spectre of regional instability in the already fragile world order.

Such provocations are in clear violation of international law, state sovereignty, and non-proliferation norms. The targeting of nuclear infrastructure endangers millions of lives and sets a perilous precedent in global conflict.

MBM stands in solidarity with the International Islamic Federation of Student Organizations (IIFSO) and joins a growing chorus of international voices including the United Nations, Amnesty International, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in condemning all acts of aggression, military escalation, and the targeting of civilian and critical infrastructure.

We call for an immediate de-escalation of hostilities, strict adherence to international humanitarian and non-proliferation laws, and a renewed commitment to diplomacy and peaceful resolution. War and violence cannot be the answer, they only deepen suffering and instability.

MBM urges the Government of Malaysia to continue its firm stance through diplomatic channels at the United Nations, OIC, and other relevant multilateral platforms to push for an immediate ceasefire, the protection of civilians, and accountability for violations of international law. As the current Chair of ASEAN, Malaysia must also lead in mobilizing ASEAN to voice strong opposition to further aggression and to promote a regional position in favour of peace, multilateralism, and conflict prevention.

In addition, MBM urges Malaysian youth, student organizations, and civil society to raise awareness, foster intergenerational solidarity, and engage in peaceful advocacy for justice and human dignity especially for those suffering amid political and military hostilities.

Now more than ever, the voice of youth must stand united against violence and injustice, and in defence of peace, sovereignty, and the sanctity of human life.
