Mohd Izzat Afifi Hj Abd Hamid; Naib Presiden MBM, Datuk Syed Osman Mohamed; Setiausaha Agung MBM, Sdr. Hasnul Haniff Harun; Exco MBM merangkap Presiden PKPIM, Sdr. Ahmad Farhan Rosli, Presiden Majlis Belia Hindu Malaysia, Sdr. Ananthan Subramaniam, Setiausaha Agung Gerakan Belia 4B Malaysia dan Sdr. Mohamad Nazri Abdul Latiff.

Solidarity with the Palestinian People: A Memorandum to United State of America:
20th October 2023
To : His Excellency Joe Biden
President of the United States (U.S)
Through: His Excellency Chargé d’Affaires Manu Bhalla,
Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur,
376 Jalan Tun Razak
50400 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
We, Sekretariat Suara Rakyat Malaysia represent the peace advocates and the people
of Malaysia, in particular, urge the government of the United States, a strong ally of
Israel, to take action in connection with the latest developments at Palestine.
According to the international media report, the Israeli aggression against the Gaza
Strip continues with violent bombardment from warplanes, gunboats, and artillery,
targeting homes, towers, and residential buildings, leaving thousands dead and
wounded among civilians, and destroying public and private property and infrastructure.
We strongly condemn the latest brutality committed by Israel whereby death toll from
overnight Israeli air raids rises to 71 after attacks on Rafah and three homes bombed in
Khan Younis. At least 2,500 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bombardment,
about half of them women and below the age of 18.
The United Nations said that the number of people displaced by the airstrikes had
increased by 30% within 24 hours, to 339,000, two-thirds of them fleeing to UN schools.
Others sought shelter in the shrinking number of safer neighborhoods.
The UN humanitarian office said Israeli strikes had levelled 1,000 homes since Saturday
with another 560 housing units rendered uninhabitable, adding that Israel’s
announcement of a “complete siege” has caused dire water shortages for more than
650,000 people. Sewage systems have been destroyed, sending fetid wastewater into
the streets.
We believe US President Joe Biden has extensive influence to stop the Israeli
aggression against the people of Palestine and the violations by the Israeli army at
Gaza. Therefore, this cruelty is a crime against humanity because it involves the
general public including women and children as reported in international media. We also
condemn any attack on Gaza that will jeopardise the civilians’ safety and any
insinuation that links terrorism with Islam.
In the name of truth and justice, SSRM urges the international community to open their
eyes and express their solidarity with the Palestinian people who are continuously
victims of the brutality of the Zionist regime that are well outside of universal
humanitarian norms.
We urge the whole world to strongly condemn the savage acts of Israel which contradict
the very foundation of human rights and justice. We also call on all Malaysians to keep
engaging with the United Nations with regards to the issue of Palestine and to work
hand in hand in finding solutions to this issue. We hope both will continue to share the
same spirit.
